FYI -- There are many ways to kill an attacking dog. One method is to punch into the dog's mouth and try to choke him by pushing your arm deep inside. Another method is to sacrifice your forearm to the dog's bite, then wrap the other arm around the dog's back and fall onto him so that his body folds backward and breaks his back. It's not pretty or foolproof, but these are methods to keep in mind if you are ever unluck enough to face an attacking dog. I was attacked once, and my friend killed the dog with a single kick that sent the little brute through a wall! Good riddance -- evil little monster.

The dog was kind of dum to run up to you rather than stay with its owner-what if when the dog was with you, and his owner was being attacked by some criminal?

Your actions may not work. I was witness to a dog fight were a pitbull was killing another dog. That pitbull was wacked over the head with rebar and still didn't budge.
