its like farming humans. its WRONG. YOU ARE A SICKO
(1) no one wold "tear the limbs" off. Most reasonable people realize this technology would be for organs, not limbs.
(2) Pushing the envelope with human cloning will stop potentially dangerous research like tranplanting animal (mostly pig) organs into humans. Yes, this is being done already. The problem with experimenting with animal organs is once an animal's organ is transplanted into a human, virus that were once only capable of infecting that species of animal are now exposed to human cell proteins and its only a matter of time before they gain the capacity to infect humans i.e. HIV, Influenza.
(3) Don't start with the personal flames. Not only are you comming to a battle of wits unarmed, it shows a lack of ability to formulate an intelligent argument.

I agree, the whole idea sort of seems inherently wrong, and just makes me uneasy. And I agree that if we develop the technology for this now it paves the way for illegal cloning in the future.

yes stopping cloning in the u.s isn't going to stop the other nations. but at least we'll be free of the future calamaty that lies within cloning. if this technology falls into the wrong hand. we will have another ww3. we came close with the nukes. remember u.s.a vs. ussr with the nukes?

That's the whole point.... we won't. In fact, we would be behind other nations that didn't halt the research.

But this is what I am saying. You WON'T be free of the future calamity. Once cloning has been achieved successfully, then the ability is there, it is just like the nukes, once nuclear technology was developed there was no way to destroy that technology. Even if we say someone in China developed cloning technology, that would then be available on the market to anyone with the money to buy the technology. Physical borders would not be able to keep the technology away from the US, so as soon as it is developed anywhere in the world, it would be a matter of weeks or months before someone in the US was able to reproduce that technology!
