fanatec typically releases a new wheel in stages. The first batch is cheaper, and each following batch gets more and more expensive. They also come separate from the pedals, etc.
if you're going to spend the money on a G25, you may as well put up the little bit extra for the 27 unless you have a specific reason not to.

ABS/lockup feedback was what I always thought was missing, because in GT5:Prologue, my braking was terrible, and I assumed it was because I was locking up the brakes and skidding... however, there's no way to feel that in a game.
