CNN on Britney Spears?
My wife just told me about a spot today on CNN that hightlighted Britney Spears as a "Great American Hero". They went on to compare her "accomplishments" with those of MLK, John Glenn, Gahndi, and several others.
I missed the spot, did anyone else see this?
CNN (and USA Today) has always been well spun "McNews" in my book, but this has to a new low for our tabloid media. OK, so she has a nice, uh...smile, and has done a few Pepsi commercials.....but a "Great American Hero"?
.............Yak

Nice hooters too.
Apparently Robbie Williams was recently voted as the most important influence on music of the last century in some UK poll.
Almost as ridiculous as Britney being identified as a great hero.
I think the reason is that the voters can't remember beyond the previous months charts / news /gossip.

well, lets see, she's inspired many young teenage boys (okay and some old pervs too) to hang her posters all over the walls and stay in all day glaring at her boobies. she's not anorexic like alley mcbeal, so that's somewhat inspiring.
didn't she lead thousands of people against armies and being such a pacifist, teach them acts of nonviolence? or, am I mistaking her with someone else? *scratches his head*
McNews... I like that. =)

Actually the report was about "where have the heros gone?" 40 years ago today John Glenn was the first American to orbit the earth, and upon his landing became an "instant" hero. The CNN story was lamenting that it seems like Britney is the best this generation can do!
I must admit, she's a pretty good looking girl!

Must have been a slow news day. CNN obviously isn't watching the Olympics, knows nothing about Morehead Scholors, Eagle Scouts, the millions of high school volunteers for relief efforts, and on and on.
What an insult!
I hate CNN!

I'm back and pissed more than ever!
I am a Red Cross volunteer and have seen MANY high school and college aged volunteers who are anxious to give of themselves to help others. Can we aspire to any greater heights than to make personal sacrifices for the sake of helping others? No heroes in this generation? Brittany is the best this generation can do???
What the HELL is CNN thinking??
Damned, I'm REALLY pissed.
Wait 'till I see Ted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
