Wow.

First, I can't d/l "hijackthis" because the dealership doesn't want anything else loaded on the computer. I used to use AdawareSE and SpyBot, but after running them (even in Safe Mode) and seeing that everything was clean, I then ran Microsoft BETA and it found a lot more stuff. I'm not sure why you guys don't like the MB, it worked wonders for some of our computers.

Everytime I run AA,SB, and MB the computer comes up clean, that's why I wasn't thinking it was a spyware problem. I think it's like what Yellow said, I may have deleted something I needed when I was deleting all the spyware off of the computer.

Forgive me guys, I'm not so computer savvy, I'll try to do all the things mentioned.

If it's a company computer i would have just have the computer formatted and windows reloaded. That will only take about 1-2 hours. The thing that sucks is there is no way to uninstall IE then reload it. Also is this a laptop? There are so many things that could be causing this. This kind of problem wouldn't be caused by a missing file. Right now the only two things that could be causing this are hardware issue(laptop only really) or conflicts with some software.(spyware, virus, third party software(not MS))

It's a desktop.

Would System Restore do the trick?

The plot thickens...

The computer seems to be free of spyware, and check this out. I went to dslreports.com to check the up and down speed of the two computers I've been talking about, the results are interesting...

Front Computer:

UP: 1223
Down: 1209

Back Computer: Problem Computer

UP: 1233
Down: 1102

The speed is essentially the same, but, when I go to log in to GMail the Back Computer or Problem Computer as I'm calling it shows its true colors...

Front Computer seconds to log in to GMail = 7
Back Computer seconds to log in to GMail = 52 seconds

I don't understand, I expected to see the problem computer's u/l and d/l speed very low, yet it's not. Running applications is fine as well, it's only when surfing or refreshing that it's so slow, I mean, 52 seconds to log into GMail, guys, please help if you've any idea what's going on here.

Sounds like a network issue, not a PC issue. Do you want to try swapping the location of the two computers and testing the port speeds again (just plug the laptop into the desktop port to start)? That will let you know for sure if its a computer or network issue.

Good call. Are you using a hub or router?

set your connection speed to auto-detect.
