Default Computer guys, a little help please...

I was doing a search for some lyrics earlier and I hit one of those really bad sites with all the pop-ups and crap. Anyway, when I killed all the pop-ups I had like 6 new things on my desktop, and about 10 new things in my start-up menu. I have Win XP Pro and this is what my startup menu looks like...

Anyway, I'm getting pop-ups for no reason now, I'm not even surfing and I'm getting them. Does everything look OK in there? lol

Also, I'm thinking of installing some anti-spyware free software, which do you recommend?

Thanks for any info.

Andrew

www.ad-aware.com

Used in conjunction with the Google pop-up blocker or something similar, and you're good to go.

You can also try Spybot. A great program for FREE.

Dude, I have another problem. I got pop-up blocker and it works great, but I'm still seeing flashes when I'm not surfing (the pop-up starts and the blocker kills it immidately).

How do I find what is on my system causing the pop-ups in the first place? I get that grey box asking me if I want to d/l something as well, you know the one, I want it gone, how do I find the offending crapola?

Thanks

Andrew

Hmm, I dunno...ad-aware has always taken care of everything for me. If ad-aware isn't catching everything, you might try that spybot thing mentioned above.

I actually use ad aware and spybot together, they both catch a few odds and ends the other misses.
