Default Computer Help!

I've installed Kazaa and afterwards, my internet connection will not work. I will try to get on, but the computer just says "attempting to log on". I can't connect again till I remove kazaa, re-install the driver for my cable modem and do a system reset. Any ideas?

Were you able to use it to download anything before your system gave out? Kazaa is notorious for pushing spyware and the like on to your PC...I wonder if something got pushed in a way that it wrote over something that shouldn't have been overwritten.

Download a copy of AdAware from www.lavasoft.ru to clean up the spyware.

Also make sure your antivirus software is current.

Run a scan of each.

the same damn thing happen to me on my desktop pc!! i ran my norton software and it found a 'trojan horse' virus that it couldn't remove. so, i'm gonna take the sledge hammer-to-a-nail approach and just reformat my HD and reinstall the OS.

You should give McAfee a shot. You can go to their web site for a free scan. They might have a fix for the trojan virus.

It'll defenitely happen if u install kazaa. It probably happen because of too much load on the modem and it stops by itself for some reason. If That happen, u can unplug the cable modem (not the power supply) from pc and put it back again, in that way, it'll reconfigure and reset the driver itself (so u dont have to keep reinstalling the driver). If that didn't work, u can restart ur comp. sometimes u just have to unplug and reconnect the power supply after u shutdown ur comp (do this if nothing happen after restart, not guaranteed though). Installing a norton antivirus and norton internet security will be a big help. if ur downloading some files, even though its not finish yet, as soon as the norton detected some virus data on the file, it'll automatically stop it and get rid of it cuz it keeps track of all the data thats coming in. internet protection on the other hand prevents hackers on reading on ur valuable data. Ad blocker is one of the great feature cuz u can restrict all the hidden program that tries to access internet *all the time*(especially after u download kazaa). Norton can automatically block it for u so u can have full benefit of ur internet access.

Hope it helps.
peace

I use Diet-K with Kazaa. That basically removes all the GAIN and adware components. It might help you out.

Use limewire. Or maybe Kazaa Lite. Kazaa puts 5-6 spyware programs on your computer.
