Default To continue or transfer....

So I absolutely hate the school that Im going to. Im graduating in October 07.

I havent gone to any classes this week because Im seriously thinking about transferring.

I cant stand the teachers, all they do is copy and paste from the class book and make a powerpoint presentation out of it. Literally.

On top of that, I dont even like what Im going for. I want to be in Computer Science instead of Information Technology focusing on networking. Computer science is where I want to be.

This school is a 2 year tech school. Its like 13th grade.

My grades have been all C's last 2 quarters because I cannot stand it. I dont have that drive to want to be there like I used to! I dont think I can last here until Oct. I feel like everyday I stay home, I could be attending somewhere I WANT to be.

You think I should finish up or transfer now?

I think that since you've come this far you should stick it out. Even though it sucks, you'll have a degree (Associates I'm assuming) or some kind of certification that can only help when looking at other schools and jobs. Good luck.

bring your grades up and transfer. no one wants a transfer student with crappy grades. put it this way; earn your transfer by getting the grades required to do something better.

I am not sure if you are changing careers or just continuing with your education after high school so I am just making the assumption that you are new to the industry.... Given that you are at a 2yr tech school, you should have a good idea about the focus/direction that you would like to take before 'wasting' two years. However, since you're only 8 months away from finishing your IT.networking, you may as well complete that first. It sounds like the teachers/coursework are the real issue, but maybe I'm not reading between the lines correctly. If that is the case then maybe you should stick with networking, but at another school?

However, if you're set on Compsci/development (and if time allows); my advice would be to try some of the compsci classes, learn a language(s) and do some dev work on your own time, and see if you can find an related internship. That should give you a good feel for whether you a)like the work or b)are any good at it.

I hope that made sense... Let us know what you decide on.

sidenote: I wish I had an s2k when I was in school!

Raise your grades and finish off school. Once you have done that you can get a temporary job somehow related to your degree, and since it is only a two year school you can enroll in another two year school for computer science!

I agree. Get your grades up. No decent school is going to take a transfer with C's from a tech school. If the teachers and classes are as boring as you say, it should be relatively easy to know whats on the exam and pull up your grades. Just suck it up for a semester and work on those grades, THEN transfer.

One thing to consider: If you go ahead and complete your degree there, I have a feeling you might not be then able to transfer those credits to another school later. So you might be stuck with a degree you don't want and have to start over in the program you do want. This might not be the case, but it's at least worth looking into. It might, therefore, be better to transfer soon.
