i'm planning to give a friend a cookbook as a gift since she recently began cooking.

any suggestions for something basic and quick. any cuisine will do although i think she'll want to cook more asian meals.

No Red Meat. Even if you DO eat red meat, it's an excellent, simple cookbook with great recipes.

I have to agree. This book is basically the bible of cooking. A great starter book that she will use forever.
