I've tried using waze in my area I dont really feel confident with it though but if you can't have a radar detector it will have to do.

On the freeway the most important thing to look out for is traffic patterns if you see brake lights in the distance you know there's a cop. Everyone breaks for cops even if they're not speeding.
Not sure what you're talking about here. I commute 140 miles each weekend, and have my cruise control on about 7-9 mph above the limit pretty much the entire time, except when traffic makes this unsafe. I'll pass troopers as if they're not even there. Never been pulled over in almost ten years of driving.
Friend got a ticket recently for 4mph over on the interstate.........

Not sure where your friend lives, but isn't 4 mph over the limit a warning?

I like the part where somebody assumes that the constabulary in their region is EXACTLY LIKE the constabulary in other regions. That's my favorite part.

This is my point. Drive to match your local laws and traffic flow, use common sense, and don't drive like an asshole. 9 times out of 10 you'll stay out of trouble.

I don't know what to tell you. That is absolutely ridiculous. Sorry for your friend, I guess. Where I live (Miami) people generally live about 5 mph above the speed limit.

I got your earlier comment. I'd love to know where getting a ticket for exceeding the speed limit is something that actually happens, so I never have to go there.

I don't want to pull this off-topic from the OP's request, but based on anecdotes from OTT and the rest of the forum over the years, it appears the worst are Virginia, West Virginia, and Ohio. However, there are whole swaths of the country where folks just plain won't like the cut of your jib.

Mind you, all of this is anecdotal, except for any fought (and won) speed enforcement tickets.

Ah, that doesn't surprise me. I've heard some awful stories about highway patrol from those states.

Sorry for derailing your thread OP.
