Cops get pwnt
The reason why cops get away with 99% of their BS is due to the simple fact that common folk don't know the law and bow down to cops. The fact of the matter, with a few hours of education, you can completely strip a cop of any of his power, and stick his tail between his/her legs.
Know the basic rights, know your rights for basic day to day living, and STAND UP TO THE POLICE IF YOU KNOW YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. If you do, you will NEVER EVER have a problem.
Sure, you might get the asshole that drags you to the station, but he WILL be punished, and you can sue for wrongful arrest.
Remember two things.....
1)Cops are NOT ENTITLED TO OPINION. With law, it either IS or ISN'T.
2)Cops are NOT lawyers, and NONE of them know the law. It is impossible. They didn't go to law school. Educate yourselves on civil rights, and cops become nothing more than literally, your very own civil servants.
To weigh in on the core issue of this thread,
I 75% agree with the OP. While yes, most cops are generally good family people, 90% of them (yes I will stick to that number, or higher) do have psychological changes when they are in uniform. They do feel power, and THEY DO NOT REMEMBER THAT THEY ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A CIVIL SERVANT. They talk to you like they are above you, expecting yes sir, no sir, etc. THEY ARE NOT ABOVE YOU. They are NOT a judge (your honor) and they are not royalty. They are regular citizens just like you an I. I NEVER call a cop by sir, unless he calls me sir first. People empower cops, and thus, they become what they are, and yes, I am talking about 100% of cops. They ALL get a sense of power once the uniform goes on, and THAT SHOULD NOT be.
A great friend of mine just became an NYPD officer, and he completely changed. He is still a good friend, but when he tells me stories of his on duty tales, I can tell he is becoming abusive of his power, and he is STILL ON PROBATION! I can only imagine how he will be when he is higher ranked.
There is nothing wrong with my friend, and he is the average guy who became a cop.
You guys must also remember (and I don't care if I catch flak for this, but like it or not, it's true), most police officers become LEOs because of lack of options. They either didn't want to go to college, didn't do well, had no other decent options, whatever. Yes there are a FEW people that really want to be a cop, but like it or not, there aren't too many people who want to dodge bullets for 45K a year.
Now, before people think I am a cop basher, I am not. I use police services about 10 times a week, and most of the guys are standup guys. However, there are times where they go a bit too far (although they are helping me) and you (us citizens) are caught in a dilemma, which the original video shows....
A criminal (remember, CRIMINAL) does something stupid, and the cops take it too far....who is wrong? The criminal, who committed even MORE crime against the cop, or the cop who went too far? Usually, I am on the side of the cop, as the criminal shouldn't have done that, but....I understand it from the "criminal's" standpoint too...
Suppose you were wrongfully arrested...the rage and adrenalin in your body might make you extremely angry, and make you do something stupid (like the girl in the Mcdonalds video...with the change)...and then the cop flips out.....who is wrong then....
Moral of the story....cops are their own victims...if people stopped empowering them, they would be completely different people.

hmm why are you the only one with this many "incidents" with cops? do you understand what cops deal with everyday? they do hear a bunch of bs stories with insurance fraud; etc. EVERY one tries to play victim to the cop.
Oh and this is all coming from a person who has been illegally searched, wrongly fully arrested; etc. But i still have faith in 99% of police officers. its the 1% of police officers that give everyone else a bad name.

Im sorry to say, you are the one in some la-la land. I'm just down the street from Long Beach and I frequent the area. I was held up with a gun to my face just down the street in bellflower. I called the police to file a report and the officer was very helpful and polite and did his job. Later a detective came and worked with me to eventually catch the fcker. He did an awesome job.
So what does this prove? I have stories too. Good ones. Like everyone else on this planet. You are just fcking bitter. Get over yourself.

Incorrect. He didn't do an AWESOME job. He did HIS JOB. Am I supposed to be impressed everytime someone does "their job?" Am I supposed to pat the Mcdonalds employee on the back that I got my big mac and coke? Am I supposed to tell my mechanic "good job" when my car runs great? No. It's their JOB.
The cop was extremely understanding, polite, and gave me his full attention and seemed to genuinely care. Both him and the detective that followed up for that matter. With the amount of regard between humans diminishing these days, I'd say if someone makes the extra effort to make someone feel completely comfortable, they deserve at least a "good job".
The fact of the matter is, the world is so much more cut-throat than it used to be and humans don't really give a shit about eachother anymore. Everyone is worried about themselves. So personally, i will give thanks and gratitude to anyone who is just doing "their job", but do it above what is expected. It's common courtesy dude.
The thing is it's a FACT that there are quite a lot of shitty cops out there, and it's very hard for people to tolerate such actions. No one's saying all the cops are piece of crap. We don't need heroes chiming to start defending.
