I'm using CloneDVD and Anydvd to backup my sopranos dvds and I've come to a problem. In season three they have episodes 5,6 & 7 on the one dvd and 8, 9 & 10 on another etc. and they add up to a little over 6gb each disc.
Now Clone can compress each of these to fit onto 1 dvd but if I include the third episode the quality drops to 55% so I'd rather copy episodes 5 & 6 onto one dvd 7 & 8 onto another and 9 & 10 onto another etc. but Clone dvd only lets me take one video_ts folder as the source.
I tried renaming the files on the second disc then copying them to the other folder and sourcing them that way but it didn't even pick them up
Does anyone know if I can do this? Or even better, would I not notice the drop in quality on my 130cm rear projection tv or 19" LCD? I know that I can just put ep 7 on a disc by itself but it seems that would be a waste of storage space and I'd rather learn to mix them in
TIA

I was going to use that but I already had clonedvd. So with shrink I'll be able to make three disks with two episodes each right? That's what you're saying?
Thanks Leemas
Thanks Leemas
Yes with DVDShrink you'll be able to reauthor the DVD contents so you can select and copy over everything (menu's, extras, movie) or just select items (just movie).
The best way is to move them over locally on your HD and then do the same with the 2nd disk, 3rd disc etc. When you're ready to create one image onto a DVD, you can open up multiple DVDShrink windows and move the selected files over onto that compiled file. This will do all the compression for you to fit onto a standard DVD disc.
Only issue with this is that since it's compressing files, the quality will be subsequently affected. Typically you can save a ton of space if you omit all the extras and just keep the movie itself.

Are you talking about moving the .vob files or .ifo into the one video_ts folder? If so there is a problem because they are named the same and therefore copy over each other. Or do you mean that once I open dvdshrink I can select more than one folder and within that source select the episodes that I want on each disc? I should get a chance to try it tonight after work depending on what time I finish.BTW it wont have to compress the files too much if there is only 2 episodes per disc because the file size is around 4.7 then.
Thanks for the help so far guys, Im sure when I get it running whatever you're telling me will make sense
It's more intuitive when you start using DVDShrink. Actually when you create the actual file you burn to the DVD it should be in .ISO format.
In DVDShrink there will be two windows when reauthoring. The one on the right is all the contents of the current DVD runnning. The other you can drag and drop what you want to keep/copy from the DVD.
Since you don't have two DVD-ROM drives:
-For disc 1 copy over locally the contents of the disc (re-author if you want)
- When re-authoring disc 2, open a new DVDShrink window and open the local contents in the DVD screen.
- Move over the combination of files from the local copies and disc 2 into a new content window
- Create ISO image of those files.
- Burn ISO image onto DVD.
Hope this helps...again it's easier to do this while actually using the DVDShrink app.
