Cost of moving?
Im looking to move out of my house. and since NY is too dam expensive i was thinking another state. Thinking Las vegas nevada. The houses are beautiful, the cost is lower and the jobs (my field) pays about the same.
I was just curious as to how much money is good start out with providing i have a job and a place to stay already. 5k? 10k? i have zip right now for moving out. but saving some extra cash would be no probelm for me.

Depending on how much you have and how much work you put in on your end, it does not have to be that expensive. $5k would be more than enough for me to move but you can have a cargo container dropped off at your house, you fill it up, and then pay to have it trucked to your new place.
If you have the job first and moving expenses are job related, then you can deduct it on your taxes if you itemize. That will save you about a third of the cost.

It largely depends on how much work you're willing to do yourself. If you can drive a truck, and load it with the help of a couple of illegal workers, probably not a whole lot. If you want someone to do everything, that it will cost a pretty penny. It also depends on how much stuff you have accumulated over the years. When you're looking for a new job, try to get the company to pay for the cost of relocating.

I dont have much really, a bedroom set, cloths, a tv, and misc crap. Im sure 5k could do it. I could prolly rent a uhaul, load it up and tow the s2k behind me or ship the car and have it meet me there. this sux, I really need to get out of my house and start my life over again

To rent a u-haul truck with the proper towing apparatus for your S2000 would run you ~$2,300-$2,500 depending on the size, plus gas. This is a quote for 10 days of use and 3057 free miles.. you could probably get it done in 5 or 6 max including 4 days of driving 625-650 miles/day
If you could fit everything in one normal cargo van, you could save some money and rent one from a place like Enterprise.. about $100/day plus gas w/ unlimited miles. Getting your S shipped would be about $1000, or you could rent a trailer for maybe $3-400.
I'm in the same boat as you.. I want to get out of the NE by summers end.. not because its too expensive, but because its so f'n boring

I hardly doubt Vegas would be any less boring (I know, it's Carbon who wants to move to Vegas). If you are bored, you are bored, it probably has nothing at all to do with location, more your outlook.

I'm not moving to vegas. And no, my outlook has little to do with it. What is more conducive to alleviating boredom: Choice 1) A city by a beautiful beach with good surfing, boardwalk, museums, zoo, booming nightlife, cafes, live music scene. 2) Shitty land locked town with none of the above and little else to offer within a 20 mile radius. I don't know, maybe it IS me.

U haul used to be the way, but with gas prices you may loose compared to other stuff. It costs about 250 or more to rent a trailer to tow behind the Uhaul. You could get the car shipped for 1k. If you factor in the extra gas use from towing the car you probably are only spending 500 dollars more.
You could look into PODS. Get a pod load it and have it sent to Vegas. Drive the S there.
You could also try to sell your stuff and take as little as possible and buy stuff as you earn more and time goes on.
Moving to Vegas now will have you moving just as the weather there gets it's worst. Ironically you just went through an east coast winter and then you'll have a dessert summer.
