I'm using Windows Media Center to record my stuff, it isn't as integrated as Tivo but it does the job nicely.
This is new to me, how do you work that out

I have my TV tuner card in my PC hooked up to my DirecTV receiver to pick up the satelittle feed. It downloads the guide and I can program it to record whatever show. Then you can watch it using Windows Media Player or your TV, if you have a s-video out on your PC video card or an XBox 360 that is connected to your home network.
