'24' Tops Primetime Emmy Noms
'Lost,' 'Desperate Housewives' Lose Out On Top Bids

LOS ANGELES -- The real-time drama "24" led all television series for the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy nominations Thursday morning in Los Angeles, grabbing 12 nods including Best Drama and Best Actor for Kiefer Sutherland.
The drama "Grey's Anatomy" was next with 11 nominations, including Best Drama. Also up in the category are perennial nominees "The Sopranos" and "The West Wing," and the sophomore drama "House."
The leading overall, with 16 nominations, was the miniseries "Into the West."
Voters apparently got lost Thursday by not nominating last year's big winner "Lost." The show was nominated for -- and won -- the Best Drama Emmy in 2005.
Another shocker came with omission of 2005 Best Comedy Series nominee "Desperate Housewives," a heavy favorite that lost out on a bid this time around. "Will Grace" also failed to yield a Best Comedy Series Emmy nomination in final season.
Instead, the Best Comedy Series nominees are outgoing series and prior Emmy winner "Arrested Development," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Scrubs," "Two anda Half Men" and "The Office."
Taking on Sutherland for Best Actor in a Drama series are Peter Krause of "Six Feet Under," Denis Leary of "Rescue Me," Christopher Meloni of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and Martin Sheen of "The West Wing."
In the Best Actress in a Drama category, the nominees are Frances Conroy fpr "Six Feet Under," Geena Davis for "Commander in Chief" and Allison Janney for "The West Wing." Other nominees were Mariska Hargitay of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and Kyra Sedgwick of "The Closer."
Steve Carell was nominated for Best Actor in Comedy Series for "The Office," along with Larry David for "Curb Your Enthusiasm," Kevin James for "King of Queens," Tony Shalhoub for "Monk" and Charlie Sheen for "Two and a Half Men"
Up for the Best Actress in a Comedy Series are Stockard Channing, "Out of Practice," Jane Kaczmarek for "Malcolm in the Middle," Lisa Kudrow, "The Comeback," Debra Messing, "Will and Grace" and Julia Louis-Dreyfus for "The New Adventures of Old Christine."
Actors Brad Garret and Louis-Dreyfus announced the nominations in Los Angeles along with Television Academy president Dick Askin.
The 58th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will take place Aug. 27 in Los Angeles. Talk show host Conan O'Brien will host the celebration.

OK so I just read this on a 24 board and it's rather interesting..
Something else I read is that the 'attack' is basically something like a couple hours after 9/11.
It sure going to be interesting. CAN'T WAIT!!!
day 6 takes place 2 months after day 5
we are gonna see a broken jack the torture will almost destroy him
most seasons are about a certain threat being averted but this year we will witness a country in the middle of the attack already taking place

Season five concluded with a battered and bloodied Bauer captured by Chinese government agents and headed for points unknown. Season six picks up 20 months later. WAYNE PALMER (DB Woodside), the strong-minded brother of the late President David Palmer, is now himself the President of the United States, while his sister, SANDRA PALMER (Regina King), is a determined and powerful advocacy lawyer. After a series of horrific terrorist attacks, Palmer and his team of advisors, KAREN HAYES (Jayne Atkinson) and THOMAS LENNOX (Peter MacNicol) as well as CTU colleagues CHLOE O'BRIAN (Mary Lynn Rajskub), CURTIS MANNING (Roger Cross) and BILL BUCHANAN (James Morrison) begin an unthinkable, nail-biting day.
