I don't think its a big deal. I hope the other guy did not get hurt seriously, and I don't think he was trying to take a cheap shot, it just kind of turned out that way.

On a side note, why is the block illegal? Is it because it was below the waist? I am not familiar with the rule but see guys get laid out who are not looking all the time. It was not a clip because his head was in front of the player he was blocking so the only reason was it was below the waist.?????

I dont visit the off topic section often but this thread sucks. Its football, they hit each, there are questionable shots all the time why point this one out. Football is turning into nascar more concerned about "protecting the athlete" than playing the game.

They point this one out because it could've easily crippled the defender and was easily avoided; all Favre had to do was block above the waist.

Get a clue.

A few years ago in the season-opening Formula One race in Australia Jacques Villaneuve flew over another car (Ralf Schumacher?), hit the wall in mid-air, and spun several times before hitting the ground; his car was completely destroyed: the only part that was intact was the driver's compartment. Jacques walked away from that accident - literally - in part because of the HANS device he's been wearing: the head-and-neck support device developed for use in NHRA, FIA (Formula One), CART, and NASCAR. It's likely that Dale Earnhardt would still be alive if he'd been wearing a HANS or Hutchens device; his cause-of-death was exactly the injury these devices are designed to prevent.

Your attitude toward sport is primeval; grow up.

Ok just about every game has hit that could cripple a defender maybe we should stop football. NFL players make these questionable hits all the time but usually they get a slap on the wrist in the way of a flag and thats it. On this forum people point it out only because it is farve and thats my point so you my friend need to get the clue.

As far as s2020 post goes about the workers its cute but doesnt really work in this scenario. Those workers working 12 hour shifts in dangerous conditions dont get paid millions of dollars. They have fouls in football for a reason that doesnt mean people need to cry about it on a s2000 forum.

I'm wondering if Favre was just being a wuss and was too chicken to throw a real block? I can't imagine he's in that position very often and maybe he just panicked?

I am sure youre on the right track ckit. How many blocks do you think hes being required to do in his career? He was most likely crapping himself and lacks the skills to block the correct way.

You know, QB's are always diving to the ground to protect themselves from getting hit. Maybe that was part of the reflex. He's in a new city and thinks, I can't just stand here... need to block... but... how do you do that again?

He just sort of did the falling fetal position move. It looked like he was just getting in the way and trying not to get hurt rather than aggressively trying to take out the guy's knees. Not cool either way, but I'm not sure that the intent to injure was there. More likely the self-preservation instinct of a 40+ year old guy who didn't want to hurt himself but couldn't completely wuss out.
