wellsfargo has been good to me. they charged me 13% when i started and i think the rate is still the same. i've been with them since i was 18 (i'm now 20) i started with $1000 credit limit and now i'm at 2100.

edit: wamu sucks. dont go to them. they shut down my card because of their error and gave me one hell of a time trying to get my shit re-established.

citi bank has a website that lays out all of their rewards cards and you can choose one that works for her.

The key to building credit rating is restraint. Make sure she does not go crazy as most people do when they can just pull out plastic and feel no pain at the store. Try going a year charging only what she can afford to pay off at the end of the month.

After spending most of college and shortly afterwards worrying about the $3k I had charged up, I can tell you I would much rather do without whatever it is I want than to send in payments each month that don't clear out the whole balance. But I am one of the few responsible ones.

Add her name to your account, get a card for her, and don't give it to her (give it to her if you like, but that's on you if she spends you to death).

...do this in addition to whatever else you do.
