Default Credit/Debit Cars- Why do they go bad so quick?

I was wondering if anyone/everyone has the same problem with their card strips going bad after a short time (6 months) of use? I don't think it's due to actual use, because although I use my debit card all the time, my credit card only gets used for work expenses. I'm thinking it's because I sit on my wallet and they rub together and get screwed. Anyone got a solution? Should I get a better wallet (my wallets are always cheap), or is there another answer?

You're right of course. What do you (and everyone else) do? Moneyclip?

It's leather. At the moment it's kind of thick, because I have several (like 5) gift cards in it and some other crap I should get rid of. Usually when I drive, especially in the S, I take it out of my pocket because I actually do have some lower back pain that the wallet exacerbates. I'd be hesitant to not have it in my back pocket for fear of forgetting it somewhere.

Put it in your front pocket on your pants. Not only will it solve your back problem, but there is also less of a chance of it getting stolen.

Mine are in my wallet in the back pocket and I have never had a problem.

They are subject to being erased by any strong magnetic fields. Do you have to walk through any metal detectors daily at work? Or work near MRI machines or some type of machinery that takes huge wattage?

I just jam whatever $ and a handfull of cards into my front pocket.

It is usually a mess, but my credit card still works and no one has stolen anything from me.

Remember George's Wallet on Seinfeld. It was so big. he had ketchup packets in it I think....

in regular wallets the cards are subject to pressure, heat, and surface contact. With that ACM metal wallet thingy, they are kept separated.

Granted, it will not protect from heat if you leave it in the car on a sunny day or whatever but the contstruction of the holder is solid and it helps keep the cards viable longer. Plus it looks cool. I love mine.

<---not a representative of the ACM wallet company, I promise
