Default Damn Vallet Parkers!!!

I just got back from a club in NJ. After giving the guy 10 bucks, so I don't have to wait and then another 4 bucks to be extra careful, I ended up waiting twice as long as my friends who paid three and tipped 4 bucks. As soon as my friends got their cars, I went up to the guy who I gave the ticket to 15 minutes ago and said "I gave you 14 bucks 45 minutes ago when I first came in so I don't have to wait. I've been here for 15 minutes and my friends who paid 3 bucks already got their cars!" He said "I'm sorry, you should have given the ticket to me". I said "I did!" Well, he got the car for me and it didn't feel like it was driven hard. Although the car was fully warmed up after sitting for 45 minutes so that raised my suspicions. I didn't smell the clutch burning or anything either. Maybe I'm just paranoid. I trust very few people with my car and am very meticulous when it comes to driving and maintaining it. I am probably being paranoid. What do you guys think?

the bottom line is that if you care so much about your car, then park it yourself. even if the valets do not take your car for a joyride, you cannot expect someone else to care for your car the way you do yourself. this is the same with honda service, etc. also, if you really are too lazy to park far away and walk or do not trust the neighborhood, you can always slip the valet $20 or more to allow you to keep your car up front and keep your own keys. of course it also help to promise to give them a little more extra on the way out if they keep an eye on it and make sure noone leans or sits on it. you can bitch about and be paranoid of valet services all you want, but none of it will change the way valets operate. your only choice is to either accept it and use the service or don't.

for the life of me i dont understand why someone would pay some 18 year old punk money to take your car and park it

does this make sense to people?

i can understand maybe being a 60 year old man with a bad leg and and an annoying wife in the middle of winter

but just because you are lazy? its just silly

these are the type of people who wont park an extra 10 seconds away in a parking lot from all other cars, cause its too far, then come on the board and cry that there car got hit by a mini van and hoe no one has any respect

dont put yourself in a position that you feel will have reprecussions, its that simple

You act like valet parkers get paid a lot of money. It's really one of the incentives of the job.

You dont want your car taken for a joyride, park it urself. No one is putting a gun to ur head.

BTW, age has nothing to do with it. Doesnt matter if the dood is 18 or 30.

However, it's not the job of vallet parkers to take cars out for joyrides. You don't abuse someone else's property like that. If I want to take my car out for a joyride, that's my business. Or if somebody else wants to, they can at the permission of the owner. There is no implicit or explicit permission made, when having you car vallet to say "Here you go, have fun. Watch out for that turn 2 miles up ahead. It's a real sharp one".

Vallet parkers, although it's hard work, pays relatively well for a second job when busy. I would have parked the car myself if there was a spot in the vicinity which for me is a 1 mile radius. Believe me, i don't mind walking. So the alternative was to park the car illegally and receive a parking summons or worse, have it towed, which would be even worse. If I didn't have to meet my friends in there, I would have called and told them to meet up somewhere else. Unfortunately, there are times when we can't avoid these situations.
