Wow.... clubs scenes in other parts of the country make Portland seem really good... I had no idea it was so bad other places! The clubs described sound like the 18+ places here... everything else has it's own niche, none of which feel like "a night at the roxbury"...

hmm, many tried it and hate it.

some love it and assume i'm a loser nerd who plays rpgs all night long. the ones who love it say, dont ask question, dont be so serious, just get wasted and stalk drunk girls. gotta love the foreshadowing.

I'm glad some of you find it entertaining. The one poster who compared it to sports or driving made some sense. But i just dont see how anyone can like being crammed into a small small with thumping bass and sticky strangers.

To the woman who said she just likes to dance. would it be as enjoyable if you and ur friends put on some music at home and danced around? why go to the club if not for attention?

I might give a particular dance night a try (salsa, swing, etc.). Otherwise, I can go to a music club, plunk down $10, and watch Brownian motion with a live band rather than pay $20 and watch Brownian motion with a DJ.
Lol, this comment is gonna be a little off topic, but did you take a microbio class? When you mentioned "Brownian motion" it brought me back my microbio lab class about observing microorganisms under a hanging drop slide....sorry for the nerd attack.

With the aside aside...just remember this, girls = attention whores (whores used in a non-offensive sense), but despite the bad image of clubbing girls the ones that go with other girls are ones that are just looking to loosen up. I have plenty of female friends that go to the club scene, WITH OTHER GIRLS, just to dance and have fun. But on the flipside, I also know a bunch of skank ass ho*s who go there to look for .

I have a Music Education Degree. I went to a High School that allowed me to sleep through my college pre-reqs.

stalk drunk girls? Is this what you did? If so I understand why you didn't have a good time..... Or maybe it's just your assumption of what it's all about? I suppose, like anything in life, it is what you make it. I've met a lot of great people mingling at clubs... designers from nike, many business contacts at intel, DJ's traveling from Canada, bratenders from other local pubs and restaurants, sales managers, phamaceutical reps... all sorts of people... many very successful, interesting and with well rounded interests outside of nightlife. Just depends on how social you are / want to be, I guess. I generally just dance with female friends and BS with guys I know from the gym, work or wherever. Bars are just as good, a little more comfortable of an atmosphere for most people.
I can see that, but I think a lot of it depends on where you're at. At clubs in Philly it seems like after 12am every drunk turns into a Rock 'em Sock 'em Robot or a gun-toting vigilante. Not my choice of venue in this town anymore, even though I went to a few when I was closer to 21 and it was alright.
