I think ones success w/ women also depends very much on where you live. I posted this before in the SoCal section.
In a recent issue of National Geographic there was a story which basically said if you're a single female head west and if you're a single male head to the east coast. Single males out number single females in places such as LA or OC...the west coast in general. Of course guess where most Asians are concentrated in the US?
The opposite is true in the East Coast. For example, in New York alone there are over 200,000 more single females than males. Many of my friends from undegrad who got jobs on wall street have rather attractive GFs/fiances while the rest of us living here in SoCal are still stuck being single.

On the other hand, I see plenty of white girls running around with "hip hop infused white boys" all the time... personally I don't get it, but as long as everyone is enjoying life!!

I'm white and I'll take a little blame.. I've dated 4 asian girls and 1 persian girl and 0 white girls seriously over the last 5 years [dated 6 months or more]. I've just always been a little more attracted to asian girls, and here is the kicker, asian girls have always been more attracted to me.
It's a fact asian males have the highest single %. That alone doesn't mean much, as someone has to have the lowest %, doesn't mean there is something wrong happening.
A lot of it is based where you live. Where are there are finite communities, it's not such a big deal. And try not to group 'the south', Texas is 2nd only to cali in asian population. Houston has tons of areas that have street signs all in chinese [I speak/read/write it].
I think a lot of it does have to do with the media's portrayal. Think of the top 10 TV shows the typical teenager or early 20's girl watches. Off the top of my head, I'd say 80% of the 'attractive' characters are indeed white guys, followed by latino than black.
If anything, it's just as simple as attractive asian girls being hit on from all sides. I know any hot asian girl has fans of EVERY race. I know because I get to constantly deal with it, but that's part of having an attractive girlfriend. Asian girls are constantly projected as more or less the 'perfect' and 'exotic' girlfriend/partner.
I've taken a few Asian History classes as well. However, as asian men continue to have more and more financial success on average, I believe the ratio will even out.
That whole 'asian guys have a swagger white guys don't' shit is halarious, but I think I know what you mean. The majority of non-business oriented white guys I know are, to be frank, goof balls. They wear sandalls everywhere they go and spend most of the day drinking and yelling. I honestly don't fit in too well.
I grew up in the ghetto and my high school was 50% black, 20% hispanic, 20% asian [mostly viet], and a few white guys like myself. I ended being friends with a big viet group, some called it a gang. I've got more 'swagger' than I need and if anything I notice swoll asian guys have great luck with girls as I go to the gym regularly and have a few friends there. Due to the media, girl's expectations of what a guy should look like have become almost as outrageous as what we expect from them.
If you are 5'6 and 130lbs, hit the gym or you better have some good lines. I don't work out for looks, but at the same time I expect a lot from the girls I date appearance wise and do have to be reasonable, especially since I'm not exactly rich..

being from the phillipines coming to united states. i have always wanted to experience some white spanish blah blah blah girls. then i found out that it wasnt that special. here in the dc metro area its more common to see a asian girl with a white guy(whats the deal) rather than a asian girl with another asian guy.
never had a problem getting a girl to come with me but i kind of see how an asian girl would want to be with a white guy(some kind of longing issue).
for all the girls in other countries TV LIEs not all white guy looks like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise
