Look at the lines painted in orange...before the truck was removed.
then look at the "after pictures: no lines, and his shirt's been opened
then look at the "after pictures: no lines, and his shirt's been opened
and those pictures were probably taken by a crime scene investigator, not the trucker. i mean, if you did run over a guy would it be your first initiative to pull up the guy's shirt and photgraph it?
if you look at the tread marks, they clearly stop before crossing his right leg and hip; if the truck ran him over while moving, he would have had to neatly slot his legs and most of his torso between the tires and the truck driver would have had to stop immediately, such that there was no chance for the tire to rotate completely over him. sound like what would happen if you fell off? not to me.

if anything, i can see him falling out and maybe getting a foot crunched. the way it is, looks like he could have been knocked out, placed under the truck, driven over, and then the cops were called.

I was typing a response earlier but it died, so i was forced to wait until after my math final to reply. Anyways, the way i worded my feelings makes it seem like I blame society for his death and hold him harmless...that's a flawed argument, i agree. what i actually mean is that I disagree with all of the blanket statements about how he "got what he deserved."
I really think that's going a bit far, because after all the crime is not that heinous. I can think of a lot of crimes i consider worse than jacking a truck, and they aren't capital offenses, so why should this be justifiable as one? yeah, he fvcked up and was punished, i just don't think the punishment necessarily matched the crime.
I mentioned society to illustrate my belief that society plays a catlytic role in the formation of gangs, and that gangs are often violent. society certainly has a role in gangs, after all, they are a part of society, so that's pretty much a moot point. I also think it makes people who come from low socioeconomic status and rise to high levels that much more remarkable and worthy of praise and attention (which, not surprisingly, is an attitude shared by the UC regents). I should have watched my phrasings more closely, because reading them over makes me want to argue with myself.
Good point about him filing suit against the driver, i hadn't thought of that. Frivolous lawsuits...
