Default Destroying a forum for your own personal reasons?

So we have a problem member on 3si.org (the largest 3000gt/stealth forum).

He doesn't agree with the moderation of the forum, particularly the "head" moderator. Despite the fact that the forum is moderated by a team of mods, he refuses to listen to their warnings and suggestions and violates the rules and their requests. Because of this he has been banned from the forum.

Now, for what he claims is not a selfish act, he plans to somehow take down the forum. He is supposedly taking legal action against the site, claiming it is operating as a business without a license since it takes donations and membership money to help offset the cost of hosting and storage.

I don't know much about whether or not a forum has to be run like a business and have a license or not, but isn't it just messed up that you would try to shut down a site enjoyed by thousands of enthusiasts just because you can't follow the rules and were banned?

I mean isn't that a BIT selfish?

I am not to sure maybe the mods could chime in on this one, but was he even a paying member? Not that it has anything to do with it but just a question.

How does he know that it's not licensed as a business?

what kind of "legal action" could he possibly take that would hurt the site?

If anything, he could threaten to call the IRS and the site could possibly get an audit. If the IRS finds out that the site and the founder are the same entity and that the founder was profiting without paying taxes... you could see where that would go...

I'm sure it will amount to nothing.. our site here is owned by an LLC, as I would think any forum of any size large enough to justify the need for income would be.

I doubt the IRS is too worried about something like that. If they had the personnel, maybe, but they probably won't give the crybaby the time of day.

from what I understand, the IRS will not spend money on a lawyer to prosecute someone unless they expect a return on their "investment". They will, if with cause, send the mods a letter asking for some back taxes. No big deal.
