did I miss something?
Not to jump in the middle of a discussion, but here goes.
First, I have now more than ever felt an overwhelming sense of patriotism as well as isolationism within the US. I have never been more proud in recent months than I was to hear President Bush say that that the state of the union is strong.
I too believe that Le Car's opions and comments were out of line and ill advised given the time and place of the post. However that is his opionion and he is free to do so. I believe that he is free to do because of the sacrifices of many people throughout the world not the least of which is the country that he is/was disrespecting.
Then the another thought hits and that is that we have earned the respect that we should be shown, however with that respect comes the ability accept opionion and criticism from others. When you are on top there are a lot of people looking up and you and complaining.
We are the last superpower from the cold war. Right, wrong or indifferent or theory did work. It won't stay that way forever. There will always be someone else that wants to come and play in our backyard. You know what, I will bet on the US anyday.
What makes this entire event different was that it was not an attack on the government. It was not an attack on the ideals or policies that are in place. This was an attack on innocent people from numerous other countries in a city that has very few equals throughout the world. Other than possibly voting for the current government, these people had nothing to do directly with any of these terrorist organizations.
This attack has touched and will touch millions of people. So to say that any one leader is any less than another on the day of the attacks is simply attacking humanity itself. That is what is wrong. It is poor taste and only serves to strengthen the resolve and patriotism of the US. Much like the terrorists, I don't understand what purpose it serves.
So what I really want to know is why are you even looking for the original thread? My guess, to simply stir up what you already know is out there.

I have one word....ingrate.... As it has been posted before...when the chips were down America came in with a helping hand. Now that the outlook is rosy for these countries the question becomes... America WHO? Oh we did this more than you and that more than you...pathetic.
Naishou in your attempts to introduce some "diplomacy" you went ahead and belittled the contributions America made in the war efforts of WWI and II.
"Australia and New Zealand's losses for example were far greater per head of population in both wars than the US." Petty... If it weren't for the U.S., your losses would have been much greater. Lets not get into a debate of "whose house is bigger".
Sondra S2k is spot on with her comments.

And if you think past good conduct gives you the right to perpetrate wrongs in the future I don't think you'll find many to agree with you anywhere in the world. Let's do this properly, together.
