Did I See the Aurora Hypersonic Plane?
The pic you made reminded me immediatly of the F-22. Which flies regular flights in the Mojave from edwards. It is in the advanced stages of its flight test program and it flies all the time. They do fly UAV's there too. Additionally this week a civillian company launched a plane 60 something miles into the atmosphere.
Well, guys, I finally figured out what we saw out there. I just saw a Nova special called "The Battle of the X-Planes," where Boeing and Lockheed were competing to build the goverment's new JSF (joint strike fighter). Both planes were tested extensively at Edwards, and they showed them flying over the Mojave desert.
I am 100% certain that the plane we saw was Boeing's X-32:

But here's the interesting thing...Boeing's design lost. The contract was awarded to Lockheed over a year ago. Why was this plane still flying at Edwards in April??
