My little brothers graduate in about 2 months. They have a different father and upbringing. My mom has been planning this for a while, buying a new dress, etc...

At my graduation my roommate and myself rode our mt. bikes around and drank a bunch of beer. No parents came to visit, no big deal. that was 1991. I am pretty sure i didn't give two shits about my graduation ceremony

edit - O ya... my brothers are graduation with some kind of crazyass good grades, etc.... I proudly memorized my way through with a 2.94

 

I had 3 graduations since high school. I went to the last one for my parents. I didn't give 2 shits about any of them.

 

Haven't done it yet but here's the plan: graduate in May with the usual ceremony, get drunk afterwards, then skip town for a two-week vacation with no cell phone or e-mail access.

 

Someone gave you a diploma?

I went, partly because I was proud, but mostly for my parents. Every parent should want to see their kid get a good education and graduation day is the manifestation of that IMO.

I went in 90 degree heat. Got hammered and almost passed out from heat stroke. Decided to rehydrate myself with Wild Turkey. Not a good move.

 

I graduated college twice. I (and family) went to the first one but my family didn't want to go to the second. Also, I didn't want to see a girl in my class who broke my heart that year so I spent that morning mountain biking near the beach. I still remember the weird mixed feelings of elation (mtb) and sadness that day.

I attended my undergrad ceremony because I didn't realize what a load of boring crap it was going to be. When I got the hell out of grad school, I went to the bar and got stoned and drunk instead. That was much better.
