Those jobs only exist in the aerospace industry. Engineers make up a tiny fraction of the job force. There are hundreds of thousands of skilled labor jobs that would vanish tomorrow without NASA.

Go ahead and pop the battery out of your phone and laptop and stop using it. NASA invented lithium ion and hell even ni-cad technology. Stop using the GPS receiver that runs off the satellites that NASA spent decades learning to put into orbit. Stop looking at the satellite views of the weather. Stop driving your car, there are too many aerospace components in it. Go throw away the protective jackets that fire fighters wear because Nasa developed the thermal shielding in them. Get the idea? I don't think you've really considered how important NASA is in not only the development, but the ten-fold acceleration in the development of modern technology.

As "dumb ass" soldier, I can see your perceptions of the world are completely wrong. I'm done arguing with your ignorance. Let's just hope you aren't in the majority at the ballot box.

OT: 11 years in the military: Yes, PLEASE cut the military's budget. It is a gigantically wasteful organization. Do you know that if my unit doesn't spend enough money a year they give us less each year? That actually encourages you to spend more money for no reason just to keep your budget. Do you think soldiers would be kicked out with budget cuts? It doesn't work that way.

I wasnt refering to you when I talked about military men losing jobs, I dont know you and i dont think your a dumba$$, Iam sorry that you made that misunderstanding.

What I meant was that IF the military did have to cut people they would probably start from the bottom of the barrel.

I believe that system only encourages the greedy to make corrupt decisions, and if the people making choices made sound decisions it wouldnt be an issue. right?

"Apollo 11 didnt really land on the moon anyway that was all filmed in Iceland.

I would like to see the nasa program ended, the money we spend on that garbage could really do some good in the world if used elsewhere! "

This is one of the most ignorant statements of the day

If military spending was cut, contracts would be cut first. The ARMY would still keep it's current force and weapons systems along with the include maintenance programs and contracts. Development and expansion would be hit first. Soldiers sign on with contracts. Those contracts protect the soldier and the government. They can't take your pay, bonuses, or any other benefit promised to you in writing, so the soldier isn't impacted as hard by cuts. Their is a simple solution to the military's spending involving scale, but that's for other topics to discuss.

I'm still insulted that you think soldiers in general are dumb. Their is a percentage of stupid people in every group, but there are some highly intelligent people among the ranks. Many pursue their masters degrees.

The simple fact of the matter is NASA spends 13billion of a 3trillion dollar budget. America spends 500billion on tobacco each year. Believe what you want, I'm just putting that out there. Good day.
