Hey yall, I need some help from those with DirectTV recievers. What I am looking for is a model of DirectTV HDTV reciever that will drive the TV and a VCR at the same time.

My Hughes Platinum will run signal out to the XX YY or whatever red green and blue RCA cable, but not to the 75 ohm VCR output at the same time. It is either one or the other, the manual says it will not drive both at the same time.

I have an HDTV in a home theater room, and then a hookup that runs from that room, through the cieling, into the neighboring rec room and there is a tv in the bar. I would like to have say the superbowl on in the theater room, and secondary signal going to the other room and driving the TV in the bar. I know that they would always have to be on the same channel, that is fine.

My current HDTV cable box will do this and it even down converts HD signals so that the VCR out will still drive a standard TV while the HDTV runs the HDTV signal.

If anyone knows of a model DirecTV reciever that will do this, thanks big time in advance.

You can buy pretty much any newer DirecTV receiver, and they will output video over all the outputs. Ones that come immediately to mind are the Samsung SIRT-S360, and the now discontinued Sony SAT-HD300. If you can scope around on eBay or your local electronics store, I would do my damndest to find one of the Sony boxes. They have the best picture quality of any receiver I've seen, and they can be selected to output the native resolution of your display. Thanks for the help, I will take a look for one. I would like to get a Sony, just because the make quality stuff, but when I find HD boxes made by people other than Hughes or Samsung, they tend to be $500 or more.

Good to know the new ones will run multiple outputs, my Hughes is three years old.

you are looking for a dual tuner High Def box - it's been a while since i used DTV but why not just add a second box high def box to your vcr?

or better still don't even waste your money on a high def box if your bar tv is a reg. tv simply use a reg receiver for your Bar tv / vcr (this way you can watch diffent channels if you want)

if you only have on line coming down from the dish all you need to do is add a multi switch and then you can tap the line that is already being run to your bar
