Default Disadvantages of a Convertible - Please List

I've never had a convertible car. The '02 S2000 is gonna be my first.

I was just wondering...when do you ever wish you had a roof, or a hardtop (assuming the S2K didn't have the option of the hardtop).

I mean, sometimes when you drive, you hit a construction area with a bunch of dust in the air...or sometimes a gardener is blowing all the leaves and dust into the street as you drive by...or you have no choice but to drive down a road with a sprinkler pointed in the wrong direction...

If your top is down during these times...what do you do?

Do you ever wish you could just roll up your windows as in a non-convertible car and just avoid that dirt/water/dust/junk?

Just curious...thanks guys.

I haven't had any of those problems in 7.5 months of ownership. I've gotten some good sunburns, though!

Those things that you mention happen so little that it's not something you should even worry about. This is my first convertable as well and trust me when I say, you'll never regret it. This is the most fun I've ever had in a car..... well there was that one time when, oh, ummm, nevermind..

Yeah but wouldn't the inside of your car still get wet or dirty?

But come to think of it...if you do drive fast enough, you should create a mini-vacuum whereby nothing would get inside...

Hmmm...

What do any other people think?

My first convertible was a '59 MGA..-25 yrs ago.... when
it rained I had a small towel for soaking up the water
between the windshield and the (truely) rag top.......

Times have changed now..... my '01 Miata has no problems.
My soon to be S2K should be fine as well....... Damn I do hate
that new MY'02 interior color scheme....... i.e. RED

I called around today looking for a '01, but I guess I'll have
to settle for a '02 black interior. That is not really a bad thing.

Don't worry about convertibles......... more fun than anything.
Especially in south Florida.....

you really don't have to worry about these problems...sure the interior is going to get more dirty than a non convertible car but what can you do? you just have to clean it slightly more often
