Thanks for all your replies everyone...they are very helpful. So, it looks like I'll be able to get a good deal on a '01 Prelude. That sounds good. But, would I have a hard time selling it back to Honda when I don't want it anymore? Is it hard to sell a discontinued car back to a dealer?? I wouldn't want to have a problem selling it back. Let me know guys..Thanks.

You're better off buying an Integra Type R compared with a Prelude, one of the few reasons is the car was discontinued by Honda Japan in 01 or so. Meaning if you want to get any cool JDM parts, it's not going to be easy since demand is low while sales of the last generation Prelude hasn't been that great either. Comparing your aftermarket parts and performance spares option, the Integra Type R is so vast compared to a Prelude. Not to mention the performance and quality ... Though I must say the ride comfort of the Prelude is better in this case but that's about it. That's all I can think about in a jiffy. One more thing, ATTS ... It's good for track use, you will not feel the difference on street use in any given situation ... LSD is still the real thing.

I kept my 93 Prelude Si even after I got my S2K. The Prelude is a very reliable car. I've never had a problem with it yet. You should be able to get a great deal on a 91 Prelude in March.

I'm not sure how well the Preludes ever sold, because when I sold Hondas back in 1990 we used to have something referred to as "spiffs" on these cars. Sell a prelude and get an extra $1K commission. Back then nobody was buying.

I just saw an Electron Blue 2001 Prelude Type SH. I was considering another car to keep on campus that's more fun to drive than the Accord. Anyways.. while list is like 26 something. The dealer said they'd give it to me for 500 over invoice.. or around 23. It's either the Prelude or the RSX Type S. Still not sure yet. I think the Prelude looks more manly...

I still kind of have a 99 prelude, and my friend has a new RSX-s.. They pull about the same power wise, but the rsx has 6speeds which will allow it to put down more power in the 3rd-4th-5th gear runs. The rsx's vtec comes on around 50 mph in second gear, while in the prelude it comes on at 40mph. This is a huge difference because not too many people are willing to match revs for first gear at 35-40 mph. I perfer the looks and handling of the prelude, the rsx seems kind of reluctant to turn, but then again, all cars do (cept miata) when you step out of the s2k. The prelude, while considered a slow handler, seems more stable and composed. I'm not too sure about the rsx's interior, the seats are great, the dash ok.. but some of the knobs look downright cheesy (climate control)... almost worse than a fbody. The prelude is down the middle here. Nothing great, but nothing bad. Except for the seats, I think I perfer the prelude's interior. The Ivtec engine seems to have more torque than the prelude's , but in 5th gear on the highway, the prelude seems to pull with more torque. The prelude seems to be a tad quieter, but both are decent, and both are about as rigid as each other. I would recommend getting a used prelude. In a few years, when my current beater car dies, a 90 eclipse, I hope to pick up another 97 for $10-12k. I sold my 99 for $15,500.

I have a 94 Si, with 175,xxx miles on it. . . Other than rebuilding the cylinder head at 156,000 miles, the car has always run like clock work. and, it still handles like very well. Also, unlike the RSX, the Prelude has a real trunk, cleaner lines and the 2.2 (in my case 2.3) liter engine is a DREAM at highway speeds. . . Also, for use as a daily driver, the lude has a bigger gas tank (15.9 versus 11.x) than an RSX, which means a longer driving range.

However, whereas the seats in the 92-96 were AWESOME, the seats in the new RSX are definitely better than the current Prelude. . .

But other than that, I'd take a prelude over an RSX/Integra any day. . .

Good luck.

Hey guys. Well, after all this, I just put a down-payment down on an Accord coupe, EX today! When I saw what the insurance would be on the lude, I decided to get an accord, which was what I was also considering.

I have another question now. I am thinking of getting a spoiler put on my car. My car dealer said they cost $800, but he'd sell it to me for $700. I just looked on Honda's website and it says they cost $499..installation cost not included. Is my dealer trying to make some extra $ off of me on the spoiler??

Do you guys know what the installation cost would run on a spoiler for an accord??

Thanks

www.handa-accessories.com has the spoiler for $358. Installation is easy, but you could probably give an aftermarker tuning shop $50 to do it (only requires drilling some holes, running some wires, takes about an hour, tops).

Hope that helps!

P.S. Be sure to tell them that when they connect the 3rd brake light in the LED, they need to disconnect the 3rd brake light in the rear window. It looks silly to have two auxiliary brake lights!
