I have to agree Scot... My parents went through a 5 year divorce and just ended this past august.

All I have to say is whatever she is telling you now... DO NOT believe it.

My mom went for everything despite what she said. The lawyers will convince her to go for anything and everything just to draw things out and make more money for themselves. The last thing they want is a quick divorce.

Stay close to your kids, take care of them. More than likely their mother will try and bad mouth you. Keep the kids OUT OF IT. As a child that went through a nasty "Whose side are you on son?" divorce... PLEASE keep your kids OUT.

I would sell everything you care about to somebody you trust, quickly. Hide money in cash form, sock away as much cash as possible, all transactions with cash, everything. Keep everything untraceable.. They will look for it. Any and every reason to show you have money to give to her... they will look for it.

God speed Scot. Its a rough and expensive road but both of my parents are happier because of it.

i guess your state isn't like CA where it's usually 50/50?

sorry to hear about this scot, the kids are the most important part in this process. spend time with them and make sure they know they're not at fault for mommy/daddy separating.

oh, BTW, a man's stock can only go up before his 60s, and a woman's value drops like a Maserati....or something like that

dam kid that sucks. see i have no prob getting over a women even if its a wife there plenty of women out there. but money is another thing. i never understood how they are entitled half when they didnt earn it. it should be you keep whats yours str8 down the middle but unfortuanly its not like that. So i guess prenups is the only solution even if a women says "you want me to only give you half my heart". I think a real women wouldnt mind to sign it if money shouldnt be a big deal to begin with since marriage is supposed to be about "Love" right>????????

Can you agree to pay your own lawyers? If you have to pay hers, he will push her to try every trick in the book. And you'll be paying for it. Most of the time only the lawyers make out in a divorce.
