Do Dogs Know When To Stop Eating?

My dog does. If I put too much food in her dish, she'll eat until she's done and leave the rest behind. She's a 10 year old miniature Schnauzer, and the vet said she was as healthy as a puppy (she still acts like one).

its wierd my dog can have a bowl of food last a week (only 7 lb dog) but if if i leave access to a pizza on the table for her to get she'll eat the whole thing in one sitting...of course it all makes its way back up though

A very, very few dogs will only eat what they need when food is left out for them. Still, all bets are off even for them when tempted with frozen fish sticks or other food outside of their norm.
BTW, watch the rawhide treats -- I had to extract a large chunk from my greedy border terrier's throat the other day. She's a gulper and scared the crap outta me...no more rawhide for her, period.
