the only time i don't open a door for a girl is when we're getting out of the car. i've never dated a girl who didn't think it was ridiculous for her to sit there while i run around the car to open the door...all others, yeah. one thing i hate though is if i'm for some reason a good ways behind her coming out of a rest. etc, and the girl stands there waiting for me to open the door. i want to open a door because i want to, not because someone expects it of me.

Getting out only when it's raining. I'll come around with the umbrella. But I don't do this all the time. I was out on a date last week and the date asked me if I always open doors, I said, no, not all the time. No big deal.

I try to remeber to open doors to buildings for my wife but not the car.

I also stopped gesturing or actually getting up when a woman stands up at the dinner table or other sitting group. Nobody does that too much anymore.

it's true, hardly anyone of my generation (i'm almost 28) does this anymore. as a matter of fact i'm not sure i've ever seen anyone do it. i think it stopped for the most part around 2 generations or so back. however, i try to do it when i remember, and have gotten some incredible reactions from it. i'm not saying to do things because of the reactions you may or may not get, but sometimes it's amazing the way people react to such small shows of respect.

I would only do it if it's a special occasion and/or when she's wearing a real nice dress or something. On day to day bases, you gotta keep it casual. That makes those special occasions eve more special. It also depends on the type of girl, some girls will think you're a chump if you open doors all the times.
