Linear algebra is usually the first truly abstract mathematics that students get. The class that I'm teaching is Linear Algebra and Differential Equations, and most of the students are engineering majors - people who are not accustomed to abstract mathematics.

It's a tough course.

(I'll be teaching it in the Summer as well: three hours a night, four nights a week for five weeks. In the Summer it's not tough; it's a killer.)

 

Man, I hated DE, but I got an A in it. I thought linear algebra (as a separate class from DE) was pretty easy.
