Do you smoke cigarettes?

yes i smoke
same here, but I'm considerate about smoking around people, I always ask if its ok to smoke around them, if they say no then I either find another spot to smoke or go outside. It's really no big deal to me. Also I have a kid and I don't smoke near him at all.

Word. I have no problem with smokers as far as them as people or their choice. But they don't take into consideration that others don't want to smell that shit or have it blown in their faces.

A lot of my friends smoke, but I always make it clear that I don't want them smoking in my car or blowing smoke in my direction.
Not everyone wants to be forced to listen to a four banger with a test pipe...why so inconsiderate?

Personally I don't find it inconsiderate having a test pipe, but many, many people do. Different strokes. There's no scientific data or literature that shows 2nd hand smoke has any ill effects so let 'em smoke. If you don't like it just walk away.

Where did I say it caused ill effects

Well to refute the testpipe comment, nobody can hear the difference I also never said that I cared if they smoked or not. I just said I don't appreciate it when people blow it in my face. And I do walk away if they continue to do so.

Didn't mean to imply that you did, but just stating that since it doesn't appear there are any, we can't say it's bad for others to be around smokers. It's merely a matter of personal taste and dislike of the smell. I don't like the smell of old people but unfortunately it's hard to ban them.

Okay, before you try and dismiss assertion, how about you actually do research? Since you gents are showing your lack of education in the sciences and want to link me to the heart and lung association (the equivalent of MADD when trying to obtain drunk driving data) how about some real data?

This was a THIRTY-NINE year study that followed 35,000 non-smoking californians to determine the effects of SHS and found no statistical correlation between SHS and mortality. Good luck finding anything better.

related mortality in a prospective study of
Environmental

Conclusion
The results of the California CPS I cohort do not support
a causal relation between exposure to environ-
mental tobacco smoke and tobacco related mortality,
although they do not rule out a minute effect. Given the
limitations of the underlying data in this and the other
studies of environmental tobacco smoke and the small
size of the risk, it seems premature to conclude that
environmental tobacco smoke causes death from
coronary heart disease and lung cancer.

Yes. Are you? Or do you throw things out there without actually researching it? The debate over smoking really boils down to telling people what they can or cannot do to themselves. If congress passed a law saying it's illegal to drive sports cars as there is hightened potential risk of a crash-related death, how would you feel?

Now if you actually DO go research it, you'll probably find two dozen studies indicating a relationship between tobacco smoking and decreased risk of Alzheimers and Parkinson's. Give up the google searches and head over to pubmed.
