I studied Psychology in school and was a assistant in a Eating Disorders lab, well let me tell you PICA is one wierd disease.

I heard one story about a gril who was put in a clinic for it, she must have been around 13-15. He room at the clinic was basically a prison cell, not to be mean, but so she couldn't eat any of it. Every thing was bolted down, the bed had this rubber cover that you couldn't break through (like a scuba suit I think), Well they went in to do a check one time, and found nothing wrong until they opened the closet door!!!
It was a laminated door, made of particle board on the inside, not only had she eaten the hinges that held up the door, (thats how they noticed something was wrong when the door fell on them) but she had eaten about 3/4 of the inside of the door!!!!

I can't begin to tell you how many other wired stories there are about this disorder. The worst part is its not as rare as one may think. Mostly it kids who eat crayons or paste and never stop, but a lot of elderly people have this disorder.

Crazy Stuff!!!!

Anyone else think it's pretty jacked up that the doctors were the ones that killed him through complications of the surgery? Sure... he might have died in a couple days on his own, but it was complications from taking his stomach out and emptying it out that killed him. That doesn't seem like a viable solution to the problem for the future
