Default Does it make sense to get 1080P for smaller TV siz

I am wondering, does it make sense to get 1080P for smaller TV size like 32"? (since the screen is not that big to begin with)

If I can't tell much difference between 720P and 1080P on a 32" LCD TV, then I would go with the cheaper one (720P).

BTW, Sony and Samsung 32" LCD TV 720P are pretty much at the same price, does it make sense to go with the Samsung instead of Sony?

and 2nd BTW, 1080P Samsung 32" LCD TV is about $300 more than the 720P model

Your eyes can't tell a difference from 1080p and 720p after 7 feet or so. If you sit farther back from the TV over 6 or so feet it would be cheaper to buy the 720p model.

I have a Sony Rear-projection LCD and love it. My parents have a new model Samsung and I feel like my picture is better, all though it maybe in the settings.

I do some work for SHI (Samsung Heavy Industries) and my boss has told me that Samsung Electronics are becoming more and more popular over seas and actually surpasing Sony in terms of "who's the best".

It's a tossup on Sony vs Samsung, just pick the one you like the looks of better

the only thing that plays in 1080ps is blue ray. broadcasts are in 720p. for a 32in there is no noticeable difference. if u get the samsung 720p 32in, makesure u not only look at the picture but listen to the audio. i have read that one of the 32in models has shitty speakers.

Plenty of broadcasts are in 1080i. Probably more channels using that resolution than there are stations using 720P.

With a TV, that small I wouldn't bother going with 1080P over 720P. I have a 60 inch 1080P TV and it's not a huge difference for me.

Actually I believe most networks broadcast using 1080i then 720p.

Even then, a 720p tv will use it's internal scaler to shift a 1080i signal to 720p anyway.

If you ever wanted to connect a computer or laptop to the TV, 1080p is the way to go.

If your TV is < 50", stick wtih 720p, because you'll be hard-pressed to notice the difference, and you'll save yourself some $$$ as well. Also, keep in mind that there are other factors that contribute to a quality picture (e.g. contrast ratio), and so resolution isn't everything. A lot of people who have seen my Pioneer Kuro in person can't believe that it's only 720p

we will have HD direct TV program soon and i *might* buy PS3 later on

and i don't think we will use the TV with computer or laptop, maybe once at a while for fun (games?) or movie (regular DVD, not HD, HD = bluray = possible PS3)

but sounds like on a small TV like this (man, when did 32" TV small? didn't we used to have 20" or 24" TV ... LOL), 1080P isn't really necessary
