Well Scot, you know the story about my wife being "downsized" out of the company when the division she was running was the only division making a profit. That was 7 months ago and now that division is losing money like the rest. Success may not be all it's cracked up to be.

I work in an automotive company and our materials department is horrible. The lady in charge of ordering our raw material has no idea what shes doing. She doesn't even look at forecasts for her numbers it seems like. Or we'll have more then enough material to last a couple months (in a couple cases its about a years worth). She has been here forever and we just changed to a new MRP system which she says "doesn't work." Basically she doesn't want to (or can't) learn the new way. She also has like 5 weeks vacation.

Our HR dept is terrible here. We somehow manage to find the worst people to hire. I could go on forever on this topic. Basically, we are one clown short of a circus.

HR people have way too much decision making power.

our company is worth about 6-7 x ebitda... so you would think if you could eliminate $$$ per year....that would make the selling price 6-7 X that $$$$$....... so in the end the big owners would get more $ as they exit....but...

"Complacency at best" is our Mission Statement...

He also surfs the net all day at work.

Hey Scot

I can completely relate. There was this co that I worked for and we had 2 people who just sat around and screwed around. One guy all he did was surf the web and maybe if we are lucky would do a little in the afternoon. The other guy did pretty much nothing as well. One is still there and the other one left. We also have a stupid idiot boss who don't know how to manage people. Enough said! I think everywhere you go you'll always have one or more apples in the bunch. Oh and the sadiest part is they got the same raise as the rest of us who worked hard.

It happens everywhere...

Very incompetent HR in one company I worked in. It took 6 months for them to get anything done, even simple things.

And in the new one I work, one guy sleeps upright at his desk 2-3 hours a day, and surfs the net another few hours.

tsk tsk...

I may check the net now and then, but at least I get my sh1t done.
