Geostationary sats can be used for any topo photos. They don't need to redirected from another location. All information was in-out verifiable. You'd be suprised what a sat can really do and how easly they can be redirected. Remember all are hundreds to thousands of miles away. Retasking is a simple process. They are phenomininal for photo work! By the way, once a physical address is established from an IP it's and easy process from there.

JRM: Ok...you crack me up! So you know how to use whois - I'm proud of you. Just FYI, I do not own the domain name home.com.
Perhaps you should visit www.home.com to see who does. I'd imagine that Trung Du is an employee of @Home - I certainly do not know him.

So please, take some pics of:

425 Broadway Street
Redwood City, CA 94063-3126

I'd love to see who is there. I'll say this again. It is virtually impossible to pinpoint my physical location via an IP address. Firstly, I may be going through an ISP proxy server, or another proxy server to visit the site. Secondly, even if I use my own IP address to connect to the site, it would take a subpoena to my ISP to find out who the IP address is leased to at that particular point in time.

"Whois" is for amatures. Yes, it would take a subpeona to release this information I'm just messing around. But anyone can be found as long as your connected via phone line modem and even wireless. Sat connections take a little more doing. Direct IP linking and unmasking of IP's is even easier. Proxies, unless firewalled with latest security, are some of the easiest. Most of the firewalls are based on outdated security. There are so many ways of covert infiltration it's not funny. Heck, as a security person, you know this as well as I do. By the way I like moonpies. Can't get any here! Dang it!

Cheers

Jeff

JRM: I concur with almost everything you say there! I take exception to being able to be tracked if I use wireless 802.11b technology to connect to the net. If I have a wireless nic and want to do malicious stuff, all I have to do is "wardrive". This basically entails driving around in my stook with my laptop in the passenger seat and a program called "netstumbler" to sniff out wireless networks. Once I find a vulnerable WAP (wireless access point), I hop on the network and have total anonymity. This means I can essentially "steal" Internet access from home users or companies, and remain totally anonymous - trust me, it's trivial. The only possible way I could be tracked is by my MAC address, which is burned in to the EPROM of the card. BTW, this MAC address can also be temporarily changed.

Go to http://www.netstumbler.com/ and you'll find interesting stuff.

/me like moonpies too, although I haven't had one in a while.

Your safe with me! I have integrityas well as a conscience. You'd have to literally kill me. Then you wouldn't get it cause i'd be dead. No one is completely impervious to detection. Everyday new detection technology is made available. Even tomorrow, the tech we use will be dated. Finding criminals is what I like to do ans they can be found. There really alot of good people out there looking after internet users behalf. This I can positively atest to. If you peratrate an internet crime you will be caught. Have no doubt. The old saying is crime doesn't pay always applies.

Ok, guys. Thanks for clearing up the mess for me. I got the email from one of my friend. I do not run that particlar firewall. In fact, I don't even know how to run a firewall. Nevermind the logs for it. If it is indeed a mistake, I will inform one friends about it. It does sounds interesting. That white collar prevention department sounds very plausible also. Or the whole thing is just designed to fool me.

Oh well.

Sorry for the mess.
