I've already done some research on this and done the "add a site" thing on all major search engines. I've also optimized the metatags and page title/test, etc. Dont' know about the "ALT" property but will look into that. I've also used a submission service and that has helped.
My biggest problem is with Yahoo, my website does not come up in a search on yahoo (where it is hosted!), no matter what you do. I've submitted the site and it's been over 3 months now but still it does not show up in the directory. I've heard that you have to pay Yahoo to have them add you website to their directory?
