Default Doomsday

So I was flipping through the tv channels earlier today, and something caught my eye on the History channel about Doomsday. They sure had alot to show and say about Doomsday being on 12-21-2012. This isnt the first time I've heard about this. Alot of predictions came true in our lives, along in the past, and this is one of them. I guess we'll see. I hope not, and lets all hope this is wrong. Has anyone else ever heard/watched something similar?

Very nice.

I've actually read about this several times before and all the different theories, it has been a couple of years though. The prophecy that Doomsday is on 12-21-2012 is based on an old Aztec [or Incan or Mayan, always get the 3 mixed up] calendar "disc" they used. It was uncovered by archaelogists a long time ago and it predicted everything with incredibly accuracy; day, months, years, seasons, summer and winter solstices, solar and lunar eclipses, even certain meteor showers and other astronomical occurances.

But the thing that seemed strange was the fact that it suddenly ends on Dec.12, 2012. After taking all the time to come up with a detailed calendar looking centuries ahead, it just abruptly ends. So that's where most of these Doomsday prophecies comes from.

It does seem a bit strange that a civilization that could create something detailed and accurate would just stop without a reason ["i didn't feel like it" just doesn't seem logical]. Personally, I don't believe in this stuff, but it is interesting. And if the world does come to an end, I take solace in the fact that everybody I hate is going to die as well.

It doesn't just end for no reason, it's the end of the third Baktun, or Mayan Long Count. It's basically the end of one galatic day and the start of another. Or, the end of the Age of Pices, and the start of the Age of Aquarius.

Oh right! I completely forgot about the Long Count calendar. Told ya it's been a few years. According to wikipedia it's the end of the 12th baktun. My original point is still the same, all these doomsday theories regarding 2012 are still based on this misconception.
