DVD player/burner
Hey guys, just like my car I want my electronics to be 100% made in Japan. I am looking for a Sony brand DVD player/recorder that is made in Japan. I have searched desperately but can't seem to find any. I find Sony brands that are made in Maleysia or China but not Japan like I want. Is there any way I can get a new DVD player/recorder that is made in Japan?
Well, 9 out of 10 times it is. In every case of higher end electronics that I've owned the "Made in Japan" has been of better quality and durability. The thing with Japan is they usually only manufacture the current, hot-now electronics for a short term then they start manufacturing them at other locations usually with poorer quality and cheaper price. When new technology first comes out (e.g. plasma TV's) they are almost all made in Japan but also very very expensive but the quality is worth it IMO. Since DVD technology has been out for a while now it has already been "passed" along to other countries to manufacture so for me to find a new "Made in Japan" Sony DVD player/recorder now is gonna be damn near impossible but I still want to try. Anyway, that is what I believe and no one has to agree with me.
That's a good question! Come on guys, you're telling me there are no more "Made in Japan" DVD players/recorders anywhere. Alright, now that I'm getting desperate, can I get your personal suggestions on which DVD player/recorder you would go with if quality was your only criterion.

i guess it just hasn't occurred to the most of us to even bother finding out where exactly a piece of electronics that we purchase is manufactured in. most of us are just not really that concerned about it. as long as it works and it lasts up until we want to replace it with something newer then that's all that matters. maybe if you really want a dvd player/recorder that is made in japan, you can check some of the websites for japan electronics stores. hopefully, you read japanese or have software that can translate it for you. good luck.
