sell a limited edition bar napkin. Anything to diffuse the cost of the tickets. I sell you this bar napkin for 300.00 and as a token of my appreciation you get two tickets to X game

Scalping is NOT illegal in every state or city. I'm not sure why ebay would regulate something like this because some cities or states forbid it.

football games are the best to go to IMO, and unfortunately, there are only 8 home games per regular season. tickets for the chicago bears completely sold out w/in like 1 or 2 minutes of going on sale this year.

you can still find tickets if you where to look (sometimes ticketmaster releases tickets later on, extra tix at the box office the day of) for face value. otherwise, you can pay extra on craigslist, stubhub, or legal scalpers (ticket brokers).

I believe ebay states that you cannot reside in the state and sell the ticket for more than face value.

So if you live in Illinois, you cannot sell the tickets for more than face value, if the venue is in IL. But if you are out of state you can sell them for more than face value. I forget the exact requirements, but remember there being difference between where you live and where the venue is and where the buyer lives....

I tried selling tickets once and gave up.

+1 for Craigslist is your friend.

http://pages.ebay.com/buyselltickets/rules.html

"Buying and reselling event tickets on eBay is 100% legal. However, some states impose limitations on resale prices for resold tickets to events located in their states. In such states, these regulations apply only to buyers and sellers located in the same state as the actual event. Fill out the form below to learn about specific state regulations."

North Carolina Ticket Regulations

North Carolina restricts its residents (sellers) from receiving higher than face value (plus fees) plus $3.00 for tickets to events taking place in North Carolina.
