Default Econo Audio

So I just picked up a set of these speakers for the purpose of replacing some mixed up speakers, sub and receiver that I've pieced together over the years. I'm using them in my TV room with my big screen. I realize it's only 5.1 and folks seem to be moving up to 7.1 now, but for an economical option, they're AMAZING. Inputs include coax, optical, analog 5.1 (actually, it says 6.1 but I dunno how that could be with 5 speakers and 1 sub...) Or 3 separate 2 channel inputs that can be mapped to the other speakers as well.

Logitech Z-5500

Best Buy actually had a really good price on them here last weekend (in Canada), on sale from $479.99 to $259.99. When they rang it up, they actually didn't have the sale price registered and I had to go grab the tag off the shelf.

Tiger direct also has these at a decent price now, MUCH better than ordering directly from Logitech.

Available here in the US http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/se...50&sku=L23-6334

In Canada they are available as well for roughly $279.99 but they are not available online, you must order by telephone. Make sure to check out the reviews on the TigerDirect link above to see what people had to say about em. They are crystal clear, perfect bass, and no distortion on any speakers no matter how loud I turn it up. I actually can't turn it up past half way because it's SO loud and clear.

I have a Logitech Z4 system that I use for my laptop at my desk. They ran me $99 and they hit pretty hard for how big they are. Logitech makes some great products.

The Z-5500 has been out for over 3 years now. It's still Logitech's best speakers, but as far as TVs go, I think they're at the lowest spectrum of entertainment system sound quality. Their speakers are the great for computers, but that's not saying much. It'd be better had you just stayed with your old system. All you're looking for is surround sound, right?

I had this system 2 years ago, then switched to the Z-5450, and now I'm rocking a set of 2.1s because computer surround sound systems are a joke.

I dunno man, it really is quite loud and clear, and the surround processing seems to be pretty high quality compared to the 12 year old Pioneer surround receiver.

I'm not delusional about the quality of the Z-5500s, but for the price I think you can't beat them when compared to many HTIB (Home Theatre in a Box) since, although it doesn't have a DVD player, that is really the comparable range of speakers.

I'd recommend people to go listen to them at BestBuy or any large electronics store that lets you sample speakers.

Why did you switch to the Z-5450s, for the wireless rears? Seems to me aside from that you made a bit of a downgrade in terms of sound quality and power output.

Loud and clear is not a very good measure for sound quality You're certainly missing a lot.. but I'm sure for the money they compare well to other offerings.

You don't miss what you've never heard.

Geeez, ya bastards. Go make love to your $2000 subwoofers, I'm buying up every one of the Z-5500s in North America. Take that.

Check out reviews of them that people did with test equipment and stuff and they actually did pretty well!
