this is like one of the worst times to be graduating... a lot of my friends can't get any offers because no one can afford to hire more people at the moment. I got lucky and landed a job with the DoD, so I'll be working with the gov.

I've seen lots of businesses close down...lots of different companies too...everything from furniture companies to car dealerships to small businesses like franchises of Cold Stone and Quiznos.

The current situation is like a hungry lion pack...and all the weak businesses are like hurt antelope...they are going DOWN.

Circuit City, weak and filing for bankruptcy...in the 4th QTR!!?? WTF?? That company will be gone soon.

GM, Ford, Chrysler...

Companies that were living "month-to-month" will not survive this. We'll be stronger for the experience and we'll have better, stronger companies for it providing more job security...only time will tell.

Took my kids to the Los Angeles Convention Center last night for the Auto Show. Looked like a small town show, small crowd and very spartan displays.

Some great investment buying opportunities in the near future.

But to hear the buzz on election day America's saviour will fix all. Then someone sent me this email and I had a side ache :

"After all that time and money spent during the election what actually was the outcome?

The economy is SOOO bad right now, it isn't even believable by most people. Those who spend a lot of time in NYC and know NYC well will tell you it's a disaster. Stores closing, no shoppers, no nothing. It's in the toilet, and it hasn't even been flushed yet.

In a shopping center pretty close to my house theres a Linens n things, Mervyns, Circuit City, and Quiznos all shutting down. Also note that this shopping center is barely 1 yr old.

In regards to the OP speaking of smartphones, the people buying expensives items like that probably arent being hit AS hard, thus they can afford to buy such items.

Market research shows the opposite. It's the "poorer" that blow their money on worthless assets like iphones, and toys of that nature.
