Although he's egotistical, its his belief in himself that makes him successful and appear as such to his clients... to his friends (if you want to call yourself that) it might look stupid and non-conformist but I tell you, it works.

What I gather that he's trying to say is that you can make it EASY in life if you just take risks and believe it will work out in the end. I bet if this had happened to you, your other friends would be posting here today.

Well, whatchagonnadoboutit?!! If he's that egotistical, he's that egotistical. Nutin' you could do about it. If you hate him so bad, there's one way you could "try" to get at him without even touching him. Go to some voodoo maker and put a bad voodoo on him.

P.S. Sometimes, that's just how life is. I've seen good, compassionate people get bad things happen to them, and bad people get all the goods and luck. Life can be unfair, and God can be unfair too.

What if he "never" gets served his. Maybe he's just successful. Wealth as a measure of success is not in any way correlated with being a good person.

Do what you want to do in life and who cares what other people do.

There are people who are "successful" managing sweat shops in third world countries and I don't envy them one bit.

One of my favorite lines: "Snuffing out someone else's candle doesn't make your burn any brighter."

There are all kinds of "successful" Hollywood and Music folks that aren't happy, can't hold a relationship together, and don't sleep well at night.

Yes, I'd like the Lambo and the Ferrari (hey Raj, he preferred the Lambo to the Modena...). But I'll get them (or not) on my own schedule.

some things don't make sense to me. That sounds like a lot of money real fast. If he made that much money, he'd have to pay a lot of taxes on it. he is not exactly hiding the money by buying Ferrari's, Lambos, and paying off his NB house. something doesn't add up here.

If the feds haven't caught up yet, they will soon.

Nevertheless, I can relate to OPs feelings about this guy.

I went to high school with a guy, Andrew, who lied his way through everything. It was just always bullshit with him and unless you know him like a few of us, you'll likely believe what he says.

Here's an actual sample (almost verbatim) of one of dozens, if not hundreds, that we had over the years:

Andrew: "I'm so happy right now, I'm part-owner of Republik, the club in Toronto and business is amazing."

Me: "No you aren't."

Andrew: "No well, my dad and I are. We got invested right before they actually opened the doors."

Me: "Andrew, no you guys didn't."

Andrew: "Well we're investing in a club LIKE Republik, it's gonna be huge man, you should get on board."

Me: "Andrrreeew, come on man."

Andrew: "Yeah my dad and I talked last night about how cool it would be if we did own a club."

Me: "Yeah that would be cool."

Andrew: "Want to go to Republik tonight?"

You have to break him down, but it takes pressure. It's the kind of thing where if you don't know better, you'll believe him. He always made the kind of claims to girls about owning or running well-known restaurants or clubs and I'm sure the girls thought "It's gotta be true, if it weren't he knows I'll find out tomorrow cause that place is huge! I can totally check in the morning, but I'm not wasting this just in case."

The funny thing is, he's never aiming to get to tomorrow. He'll end up with them for the night before they find out he's a bum who lives in his dad's condo because they lost their house because of irresponsible tax practices.

It was the most frustrating thing ever because he has now bullshitted himself into actually owning a business. The right people have believed the wrong things for him to get it, and it makes you wonder if doing things the wrong way will yield more success. I don't know if he'll ever "get his."

It's all about how you value success. While wealth is a big factor, it's not the only one and my views have definitely shifted over the past few years.

Something about egotisitcal guys, girls are attracted to. I got tired of being a nice guy at the end of high school/beginning of college and just started acting egotisitcal and lo and behold, chicks were all over it like white on rice. Something about self confidence that women really like. I was just acting too (I guess I'm a pretty good actor.) because basicially I'm a mild mannered laid back person, but I did what I did to DO who I had to do.

The confidence also gets you in doors and places. Those people do get ahead more easily because they seem to know something the rest of us don't, at least to new people they meet. ONce you know them you learn they are FOS, but they pull off enough that it works.
