When getting on an elevator I always wait until people getting off on the floor get off. It just makes sence to me. I hate it when people pile on and you are trying to get off.
Am I right here?
Sometimes I accidently start getting on because I called the elevator and have forgotten that someone may be on it, but then I step back if someone is getting off instead of bull rushing in.

I hate when people do that. Just start throwing a stiff shoulder and maybe some of 'em will get the idea. this is like people driving below the speed limit in the fast lane when there is no one else on the road.
The conclusion I have come up with is that people suck.

When you get on an elevator, do you ever face the back? Everyone always turns around, and they seem uncomfortable if you face them...
You are perfectly right. I hate it when people bum rush the elevator when you are trying to get off. Same goes for buses, trolleys, trams, subways, and trains. You actually have to let people off in order to get more people on. What is so hard about that?

Same thing happens on the trains here in the city. People rushing in while you're trying to get off. What also happens often is I walk toward the doors about 15 seconds before the stop, and have people rushing to get out before me. It should've been clear that I'm leaving when I walked to the door and held the open button before we came to a stop so it opens when the driver releases the lock.
Idiots.
I got stuck on an elevator once with a coworker. I was having a bad day so I sat down and lit a smoke. When they finally got us out the building security walked up and accusing said "Why does it smell like smoke? Were you smoking?!?"
Yes, I spent an hour and a half trapped in an elevator while we were on our way out for a cigarette. Shut up or I'll charge you with unlawful imprisonment.
