Eh.....divided.

I was in an accident at 16 that would have killed me had I been wearing a belt. I was ejected out of an open sunroof in a Prelude being t-boned by a van doing about 50 at the point of impact. Got back to the car, driver door was pushed flat covering almost entire driver's seat. Cop got to the scene and said "Where the hell is the driver?" I raised my hand and he looked at me in amazement. I just cut my head on the way out but otherwise was fine, if shook up. I actually landed on my feet and one hand, stood up to yell at the other driver because my reaction was to be mad, but as soon as I got upright my legs went rubbery from the shock and I sat back down.

I still wear my seatbelt everytime I drive. Chalked that first accident up to a fluke with someone watching out for me. I think seatbelts are the way to go, but I am all for personal choice. If you don't want to wear one i am not going to tell you you have to.

Well put together video though.

I think it's a brilliant ad. It associates your seatbelt with more positive emotions - it's something that can keep your family together.

But seriously, anyone who doesn't wear a seatbelt in this day and age might as well go head first through a windows because they deserve to be removed from the gene pool as their stupidity would be regressive trait in the gene pool.

I know it sounds insane buts that what went down. I was just entering an intersection when the light turned green and barely moving, no seatbelt. In a split second I saw the van coming towards me running the red light at highspeed, basically headlightits in my eyes and as much as fast as I could I tried to jump out of my seat toward the passenger seat, where my friend was sitting. As far as I can tell the impact threw me in the passenger seat direction but because my friend was there I got forced out the open moonroof.

I don't know what happened to me in the air just that I landed on my feet and one hand on the ground as if I was recovering from a missed tackle, stood up, realized what happened and dropped back to the ground. Its kind of a strange experience to go from having this reaction to scream "What the **** are you doing?" at someone who has just t-boned you car and being really pissed, to having the severity sink in and almost faint in the same second.

I probably did not get shot out of the car, but dangled half out of the roof until the car was stopped or nearly stopped, fell off the roof, and landed on my feet. I really don't have that clear of a picture of the event but its a little spooky to see a car you were in where could just have easily been a greasy splotch as a guy who walks away.

I REFUSED to wear a seatbelt for a couple years but then went 180 degrees the other way. Got an ounce of maturity perhaps.

Not arguing against seatbelts, just saying sometimes a serious accident happens and someone not wearing a seatbelt gets crazy lucky. Guy ejected from Vette doing over 100 and just gets minor cuts and rashes.
