lots of dell peeps. if you are going to buy prebuilt, I guess dell is it, work uses dells pretty exclusively for ease of ordering and support.
I would say build it yourself.

Hate to be the exception but I use a Dell laptop at work and my experience is that it is a real POS. I like the IBM "Stink Pad" that I had better but, if I had my wish it would be a Toshiba. As far as a new PC go out to the Dell site and get the specs on the PC you want. Go to Comp USA or similar store and have them price a "BTO" (built to order) unit. You will be surprised on how much you will save.

I buy $150K in computers each year for my company. I've used IBM, Compaq, Dell, HP, Gateway, and probably some brands I've left off.

If I were going to go and buy a new PC right now, I would choose Dell.

The parts in any of them are about the same honestly, but Dell's support is superb!

If you live close to Orlando or just want to take a ride......check out the MarketPro.com computer show at the fairgrounds on Colonial Dr (Hwy 50) THIS WEEKEND. They have some really good deals, depending on how computer savy you are. At the last show I picked up AMD 1200mhz on board sound, video, ethernet -bare bones kit for the office where I work, just added the old hd , floppy and cd rom and had to buy a stick of ddr ram, all for $160. bucks. They also have assembled ones for 250 to 350 depending on speed-- comes with keyboard mouse cheapo speakers and Win installed.

I have made numerous purchases their with no problems yet.

Well, all I have to say is:

This is the BEST forum in the world!! It's amazing to me that I can come here and find solid info and prompt help on just about any topic.

This me even happier to be a part of the S2000 community. The Honda dealers should advertise S2Ki as a perk to ownership.

Thanks so much for all of your comments. You have all really helped me a lot and I am grateful.

I'll let you know how it works out, but it looks like I'm gettin' a Dell.

My mother has a Dell and it's been fabulous. At my last workplace, that's all they used and they were, in general, very good.

That said, I bought an HP last summer and got a fantastic deal on it. I haven't had a problem with it yet AND I got a full three year warranty that includes replacement of ANY broken part with a suitable upgrade (ie, I have a 16X burner now, but if they replaced I'd get a 24X burner since that's "midlevel" now, or something). They'll also replace my computer if it takes over a week to fix - ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. They will literally ship me a new computer no matter where I am.

I got all this at Futureshop (not sure if they have that in the USA), if anyone is wondering.
