Last night, after I washed my car, (finished at 7:00), and showered I drove to a friend's house and parked in his driveway.

Arrive at 8:00.

Leave around 8:05 in someone else's car to see a show.
(Ironicaly, I left my car there to prevent any damage to it while I was at the show)

Get to friend's house at around 11:30 and walk out 15 minutes later.

Before I get to the end of the driveway i am flagged down by three friends, one of them whose parents own the house.

There is a dent on the side of my car that was facing their garage. After a good half hour of investigation, we ruled out all five freinds who had vehicles there.

The only thing we didn't check was the car in the garage, even though I showed some interest in it.
Because these are friends, I didn't specifically ask to see the car.
Here's the question:

I just found that the deductible is $1000 instead of $100.

Now I feel compelled to ask the friend if I can inspect their vehicle.

What should I do?

Think of it this way: what kind of friend would damage your car and not admit it? Do you really want someone who would do this as a friend?

Ask.

Ask.

If he was your friend, he would fess up and not hide anything.

Dude, that sucks. Can't say that I would ask the friend to see the car cause if it was him and he didn't fess up to it, I'm guessing he already tried to get rid of evidence and it would be more trouble then anything to get him to pay. I'd chalk it up to bad luck, like a neighbor hatin on your car or something and bite the bullet.

Say that you came back and the car was like that. Then there will be an investigation, and you can collect Unisured motorist

Thanks guys,

The thing is, I know it wasn't the friend because he was with me the entire time.

I just think that maybe his sister or mom may have left -or returned to- the house while we were gone.

In this case, he would have no knowledge of it. He also may not have the mental capacity to offer for me to see his family car.
He would have let me see it, I just didn't want to come off as an asshole, and I though the deductible was going to be $100.

What to do???
